Consumed by Design: Exhibit Opening with Marla Allison
February  – June 2017
Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, 2401 12th St NW, Albuquerque, NM.
Next solo exhibition of my paintings. February 25th through June 2017

Allison’s show will also be the first new art exhibit at the IPCC since the center marked its 40th anniversary in April 2016. Allison is known for vivid paintings that depict the landscapes, wildlife, architecture, and particularly the people of her native New Mexico, as well as for experimenting with geometric patterns to depict living forms. She deliberately draws from the artistic traditions of Laguna Pueblo in order to enrich her own work.

“As a visual artist it is important to paint my surroundings,” says Allison. “The more I can embrace what the elders of the past found inspiring, the more I can understand about myself and my place as an artist. This show is all new work, and focuses on the design with the lines of pottery and the precision of paint strokes.”
